Outdoor Sauna Kits
Outdoor Sauna Kits
An outdoor sauna kit needs more than four walls and a heater. Foundation planning, site access, drainage, electrical requirements, heater type, ventilation, and weather exposure all affect how your sauna performs over time.
Finn Sauna helps homeowners, builders, lake property owners, and wellness spaces plan outdoor sauna kits that fit the site, the climate, and the sauna experience they want to create.
Built on a Rock-Solid Foundation
A lifelong outdoor sauna starts with a proper foundation that prevents settling, shifting, or rot. We use proven, durable options—concrete piers, helical piles, crushed stone pads, paver systems, full concrete slabs, or integration with an existing deck—tailored to your site and soil.
If you’re adding an electric heater or lighting, we plan ahead: a simple 18-inch-deep trench with protected conduit brings power safely to your sauna, keeping everything code-compliant and worry-free.
Electric VS Wood Fired Outdoor Saunas
Outdoor saunas can be powered by either electric or wood-fired heaters, each offering a distinct experience and set of requirements. Electric saunas provide convenience and precision—heat-up is as simple as the push of a button, temperatures are easy to control, and ongoing use requires minimal effort. However, they do require substantial electrical infrastructure, including a high-voltage connection, trenching and buried conduit from the home, and a dedicated breaker in your main panel. This can add cost and complexity depending on the distance from the house and site conditions.
Wood-fired saunas offer a more traditional, hands-on experience and greater flexibility in placement. Because they do not rely on electrical service for heating, they can be installed fully off-grid (aside from optional low-voltage or battery-powered lighting). Many people appreciate the softer, more natural heat and the ritual of tending the fire. While they require more involvement to operate and maintain, wood-fired saunas are often ideal for remote locations or for those seeking a more authentic sauna experience.

Why Work With Finn Sauna?
We’ve been working with saunas since 2016, but our connection to sauna goes back much further than the business itself. That combination of firsthand experience and years spent designing, installing, and servicing saunas shapes the way we approach every project.
01
Finnish Heritage
Our Finnish heritage is woven into the fabric of our company. Many of us grew up with sauna as a regular part of life, and it’s something we still genuinely enjoy. When you’ve spent years using traditional saunas, you begin to notice the details that determine whether a room simply gets hot or actually provides a good sauna experience.
02
Project Coordination
Saunas are still relatively specialized in the United States. A builder, architect, electrician, or interior designer may be highly experienced yet still encounter only a handful of sauna projects. We provide the sauna-specific knowledge and coordinate those details with the larger project team. Our goal is simple: eliminate surprises.
03
Skilled Carpenters
Not every sauna goes into a perfectly square room with easy access. Existing homes can bring unusual dimensions, pitched ceilings, framing conditions, or other details that require more than a standard installation. Our installers are skilled carpenters who can adapt to the conditions they find on site.
