Based just across the state line in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, Finn Sauna works with homeowners, home builders, architects, and interior designers throughout Vermont. We design and install custom indoor and outdoor saunas for year-round residences, ski houses, vacation properties, and new homes.

A complete sauna project often involves work outside the sauna itself. Our installers aren’t simply technicians who follow a set procedure. They’re skilled carpenters who can adapt when an existing wall isn’t square, a kit needs modification, or site conditions aren’t quite what everyone expected. We also test products, whenever possible, before recommending them. If we wouldn’t install something in our own sauna, we’re not going to recommend it for yours.

A Sauna Designed Around Your Vermont Property
Vermont gives us opportunities to build saunas in places that simply wouldn’t be possible in more densely developed areas.
We work on ski houses tucked into the mountains, full-time residences with acres of land, and properties with private ponds or wooded trails. Sometimes the best place for a sauna is inside the house. Other times, there’s a spot outside where it can become its own destination.
Custom construction gives us the flexibility to work around the property instead of forcing a standard sauna into an unsuitable location.
Better Heat and Steam
A sauna can look beautiful and still provide a disappointing sauna experience.
Room volume, glass, bench height, insulation, ventilation, and the heater itself all affect how the sauna feels when you’re sitting in it. Bench height is especially important because putting the benches too low can leave you sitting in a much cooler part of the room.
For outdoor saunas in Vermont, we also pay close attention to heater capacity. A sauna should perform properly in January, not just when we happen to install it on a pleasant September day.
More Material and Design Options
A rustic outdoor sauna with a wood-burning stove can look completely at home on a rural Vermont property. In a newly built home, the better fit may be a custom indoor sauna with clean Scandinavian lines and large areas of glass.
Custom construction gives us the freedom to choose materials and features based on performance as well as appearance.
For architects and interior designers, our goal is to preserve the design intent while making sure the finished space functions as a proper sauna. If a detail creates a practical problem, we’ll work with the project team to find a solution rather than simply saying it can’t be done.
Support After Installation
One reason we shifted our focus toward projects we could personally visit and install throughout New England was simple: we wanted to be able to help customers in person.
Serving Vermont allows us to stay involved from planning and installation through service and long-term care.
Finn Sauna’s current service program includes a one-year warranty covering parts and labor on new saunas. It also includes a complimentary maintenance visit scheduled 8 to 14 months after installation, with additional service plans available for residential, seasonal, and commercial saunas.
Sauna Planning for Vermont Properties
Vermont’s mountain towns, large rural properties, and four distinct seasons make it the natural setting for indoor and outdoor saunas. Depending on where we’re working, the sauna might be part of a ski house, sit near a private pond, or take advantage of a view across Lake Champlain. The setting also influences practical decisions about heating, access, utilities, and where the sauna should be located.
Southern Vermont and Ski Country
Southern Vermont’s ski towns are naturally suitable for saunas. Cold winters, mountain elevations, and vacation homes create ideal conditions for relaxing in your sauna after a day on the slopes. We’ve installed saunas throughout communities including Londonderry, Ludlow, Manchester, Wilmington, Dover, Wardsboro, and Chester.
Many of these homes are tucked deep into the mountains and surrounded by forest. For outdoor saunas, we pay particular attention to winter conditions and exposure. Insulation and heater capacity become especially important when temperatures drop.
Access can also require some planning. On one memorable Vermont project, we carried sauna components roughly 100 yards through a bog to install a sauna on the deck of a yurt. Not every installation is quite that adventurous, but it’s why we like to understand the property before installation day.
Central Vermont and Lake Champlain
As you move toward Central Vermont, the market changes. Communities near White River Junction and Norwich have larger year-round populations, and we see more full-time residences instead of primarily vacation homes. Properties often become larger as well, with private ponds, wooded trails, and rolling hills replacing ski villages.
Farther north, the Lake Champlain region has its own character. We’ve built saunas throughout Burlington and surrounding communities, as well as on Grand Isle and South Hero. Whether overlooking the lake or tucked into the countryside, these properties provide exceptional settings for traditional and modern sauna designs.
For rural and waterfront properties, we consider the sauna’s location, access to utilities and drainage, views, and opportunities for cooling between sessions. A private pond or a cold Vermont lake certainly makes that part of the sauna experience more intriguing.
